Dendrophyllia Coral, also known as Dendrophyllia, is a beautiful, non-photosynthetic LPS coral that features long, slender polyps with a striking appearance. Its polyps can come in various colors such as white, yellow, or pink, often with bright tips or centers. This coral is a favorite among advanced hobbyists due to its unique look and its need for supplemental feeding.

Unlike many other corals, Dendrophyllia does not rely on light for energy. Instead, it needs to be regularly fed small plankton or specialized coral foods to survive and thrive. These corals are most active during the night when their polyps extend and capture food, making them fascinating to watch in the evenings.

Dendrophyllia prefers low to moderate lighting and low to medium water flow, which helps keep the polyps extended and active. It’s a peaceful coral that can be placed near other non-aggressive species, but care must be taken to provide it with enough space to capture food. Due to its feeding requirements, it’s best suited for aquarists who are comfortable with supplementing its diet regularly.
