Favia Coral (Favia spp.)
Lighting Requirements: Moderate
Water Flow: Low to Medium
Care Level: Moderate
Placement: Middle to Lower Levels
Temperament: Peaceful to Mildly Aggressive
Favia Corals are known for their vibrant, eye-catching colors and unique, pocked appearance, with polyps that resemble small, star-like formations. Available in a variety of colors such as greens, browns, reds, and oranges, Favia can add depth and contrast to your reef tank with their striking patterns and textures. Their encrusting growth form makes them ideal for filling spaces and creating a dynamic, natural look in aquascapes.
Favia thrives under moderate lighting and prefers low to medium water flow, which helps keep their polyps extended and their surface clean. They are primarily photosynthetic, relying on zooxanthellae, but benefit from occasional feedings of plankton or coral foods to promote healthy growth and vibrant colors.
While generally peaceful, Favia Corals can produce long sweeper tentacles that can sting nearby corals. Be sure to give them enough space to prevent aggression and allow them to grow and spread in your aquarium.

Color Accuracy
- We use a custom white balance so the photo matches what you’ll see under a clean, blue-leaning reef spectrum.
